Have you ever received a text telling you how you won a prize in a competition that even yourself you have no idea existed? You also must have received an "Mpesa text" then a call  follows immediately saying the "transfer" was all but a mistake. You must be wondering who does all these stuff, prior investigations by various media outlets have exposed that all these schemes are done by inmates tucked deep in the prisons. How they get the cellphones and airtime to communicate remains nothing but a mystery.

Despite immense public awareness campaigns headlined by leading communication industries, people still continue to get duped not because of ignorance but as a result of the ever evolving tactics implied by the conmen. Nairobi Exposed shall for the first time reveal to you how the inmates are creating fake celebrities profiles and duping the public into believing by impersonating the celebrity and eventually conning from them. According to reports and complaints received by NE,a total of 21 girls have been confirmed victims to this latest intrigue. The impersonating account by the name Almasi Machachari of the famed Citizen's Machachari young actor made a post announcing an opening of an actress, according to the post any interested party between 19-26years and a KCSE holder and should inbox him for further details.

The victim narrates to NE the events of the night, after sending the inbox she was instructed to talk to the show's "producer" whose no.was given as 072985921,after calling the "producer" he says its an emergency and they need an actress within a day so the condition is they are to meet the next day and she should carry along her original id and certificate of good conduct within 24hours. The good conduct is deliberately put in and a short time frame given to bring it,they know its impossible so here lies there loophole. After raising concerns that it would be impossible to get the certificate within the giventime, the "producer" offers to connect you with a guy at the CID Hqs to help facilitate quick issuance of that cert.

The "cid" asks for a sh.2k bribe to fasten up the issuance. Left with no option but confide as necessity begs she goes ahead and sends the money. The "producer" then proposed for her to meet him at Jamii Bora House,Koinange street saying that's where the machachari office is located. She gets on her best ready to stun and off to meet the "producer" on arriving at the venue his phone was unreachable so she had to wait by the pavement, minutes turned into hours and no signs. Then out if the blues came a call from the "producer" who amidst heavy laughter broke the news,"unakuaje mjinga unatumia mtu ako jela pesa(how stupid are you, sending money to an inmate at the prisons)"
At that particular moment it done on her that she was conned. The watchman at the entrance told her she isn't the first girl and said about 20 girls have been coming there with the same story and gets same response, revealingthe grand theft before the eyes. Peter is the name to the "producer",Wilson Mwangi whose no. 0721422224 is the "CID"

Its not the first time impersonators are using celebrities' names to con unsuspecting civilians who falls prey into their scavenging ways. Julie Gichuru has had the same case. Take care and never send your money to a stranger.
