Three babies who were surviving through the incubators at the Pumwani hospital have lost their lives. This follows after the hospital's workers dropped down their tools to join the rest of the striking council staff.

Pumwani, which has the biggest capacity for maternal healthcare in the city, accommodates a bigger number of patients who are generally from the low income class. After downing their tools and joining the strike, the bigger burden fell on those seeking maternal care. Many of those who were stranded were moved to other hospitals.

But since many seekers there are from extremely lower income families they were stranded and left with nowhere to go. Thanks to the quick response by the Red Cross who have come forward to rescue the situation and salvage it.

Since morning yesterday they've been transferring those in critical conditions to the biggest referral hospitals around mainly KNH and Mama Lucy hospital. But since this a voluntary work, the organization is in need of extra financial help to facilitate the exercise.

On this note an MPesa account has been opened for the Pumwani funds making it easier for the willing members of the public to submit their contributions in ensuring the safety and health of the infants and the mothers as well.

To help in evacuating the babies to better and healthy conditions, you can send your contributions to the MPESA Paybill number 939310 A/c. Name 'B'  BabyRescue.
