June 27 having attended her grandfather's funeral 16-year-old braved though the darkness back home, six men in between the ages of 16-20 appeared and tried forcing themselves into having s3x with her.

She attempted fighting them off but was overpowered, they pinned and beat her senselessly then took turns in raping her. As if that wasn't enough, after they were done and to clear the "mess" they dumped her into a latrine pit which was about 4m deep.

Again despite having broken body parts she tried climbing out of the hole she was left to die in. The rapists thought she was finished. Luckily her cries for help were heard and she was quickly rescued out of the latrine.

She knew some of the rapists and called them by their names, this led to immediate arrest of three who were student at a neighbouring school.

As they spent night in the police cell Liz was taken to the clinic in Busia where the worst was starting. She wasn't able to walk and the mother who is poor had problem raising her medical fee.

Following day the rapists were given punishment at the police station to slash grass then were set free to the outrage of many.

Liz's treatment journey was just starting, she suffered spinal injury can't control her bladder neither her bowels, the mother sold the only land she had left to raise money for her child's treatment who is constrained to the wheelchair but the cost was way expensive to meet.

Her story was run on a local daily and luckily well wishers raised money to facilitate corrective surgeries that could see her regain her lost health.

But despite the positive progress,Liz's fears continue to grow,no justice seem to have been served, the people who raped her only received grass slashing as the punishment and walking free.

The act has sparked global outrage with an online petition drawing 1.3m signatures for the justice calling out for arrest and persecution of the rapists, also the police officers who released the rapists to be put into task.

On Thursday morning group of Kenyans held a peaceful protest in Nairobi presenting the petition to the police IG. The protest had placards and waving of panties in protests. Hopefully the girl gets justice served
