The former prime minister of Kenya and a political puzzle UN Kenya Raila Odinga released his autobiography that took him years to write just a few days back.
The launch was graced by his great friend,pan-Africanist and former president Olesegun Obanjo. The attendees list varied from many dignitaries drawn from many sectors of this country and outside as well.
As expected,the book Drew a lot of attention even from his political rivals grabbed their copies. In the book he talks about his lifetime experiences both dark and light.
Having been declared a political enigma,Raila who commands a bigger following in the country and if the last general elections statistics has anything to go by then nearly half of the country is part of his followers, was expected to stir talks with his new book.
The 1000+ paged book retails at sh.3900 literally outsold on it's release day due to it's high demands. Credible source deep in the sales of the book,reveals to Nairobi Exposed that on the release day over 2000 were sold out with others taking heaps and heaps of the book.
But that's not the end of it all,as from next week,Raila will be doing a promotional tour of the book in the US and other western countries. Many international scholars have sent requests to have copies assigned to them,universities in the western countries have ordered for bulk,the books are expected to help in understanding the enigmatic character more.
Harvard university through a representative have expressed their interest in putting the book as a case study.
In his US tour its unclear wether he will be visiting the Harvard,but one thing is for sure,the book is getting a deserved reception. Locally it has a limited version with booksellers forced to increase the prices up a bit.
