Nairobi University is located right in the heart of Nairobi city making it easier and affordable to manoeuvre around town without incurring extra cost. Mamlaka hostels is one of the most popular of the university's. Revelations are emerging,according to info gathered by Nairobi Exposed that outsiders are residing in the hostels illegally,a source who sought anonymity tells us this trend has been there for sometimes now and despite the calls and complaints forwarded to the administration,action is yet to be taken.
Mostly the outsiders come in on invitation from a friend/relative friend and stick. Mamlaka is largely boys occupancy which isn't under much scrutiny as compared to the other hostels like Stella which is under close eye,this makes it easier for an outsider to reside just like the rest of the students without raising any alarm. So these guys gets free shelter,doesn't pay for transport when going to work as its but a walking distance to town. They wake up as normal,head to their work places as the rest of students goes to their classes. The situation gets worse as our source tells us,there is an old mzee residing in hall 11 and has been there for sometimes.
The presence of weired faces in the hostels raises considerable security issues,time back the police discovered heaps of weapons swindled in the hostels and the students arrested,they were working in collaboration with outsiders thugs to harass students. This latest developments leaves nothing but worries and panic amongst the students as the intentions of the intruders could be unclean just maybe. Its in the hope of the student who made the revelations to NE that the administration takes a move and do a surprise check up and sweep away the uninvited guests in the hostels.
