ICC Issues Warrant Of ARREST On A KENYAN JOURNALIST And A Close Ally To RUTO

Weeks after ICC prosecution alleged that the fall out in the witnesses' corner is as a result of continued intimidation on them from certain forces in Kenya.

Bensouda promised to conduct a comprehensive investigations and bring to the books those responsible. ICC like any other court takes witness protection seriously.

The first witness against Ruto PWN 536 exposed the underlying motive of revealing identities of witnesses, the alleged revealed identity went viral and even though it wasn't admitted nor denied by the prosecution to be true, the court was prompted to go on private sessions to avoid any further exposure of witnesses.

The ICC between 17th-18th of September issued a warrant of arrest against a Kenyan journalist Walter Barasa for alleged witness bribery, intimidation and interferences with the court in terms of the prosecution's witnesses.

However the Prosecution formally went public with the warrant on Wednesday Oct 3 requesting the government of Kenya to arrest and hand over the journalist to them.

Barasa is accused of trying to bribe an ICC witness with $16,200[approx sh.1.2m] to recant their testimony against deputy president William Ruto.

The prosecution paints the journalist as a close ally to the indictee. They insists to be in possession of "compelling evidence" to nail him down.

The warrant of arrest comes at a time when the prosecution has been casting doubts on continued cooperation from the Kenya government following attempts to pull out of the ICC.

This could as well be a litmus paper to the world on cooperation or non cooperation from the government with ICC.

Barasa on the other hand is getting his legal team ready and rearing to go against the ruling. He is  preparing his defence through Nick Kaufmann, a former ICC prosecution lawyer.

Barasa on his end alleges that Paul Irani an ICC investigator in Kenya had on 15th sept approached and begged him to appear in the Hague as a witness against Ruto,a statement that easily contradicts going by the ICC's initial knowledge that he is an ally to the DP,testifying against a friend could be near to impossible.

But since the warrant was issued on 17th barely two days after their alleged meeting with Irani, the invite could easily  be read as a laid trap to get him to the Hague then lock, but this is just but an observation.

Barasa is a former journalist with Nation Media Group and is currently working for The People Daily which is affiliated to the MediaMax Group where he is profiled as a trainer of the trainers Owned by the President Uhuru, partially.
