Lake Victoria is the largest fresh water lake in the region and serves two countries mainly Kenya and Uganda. Its known for fish production,a practice which forms the economic backbone of the locals along the shores.
Fishermen in Kisumu have taken into advantage the lucrative business and used their privilege in soliciting for sex from women who are engaged in selling fish. The deal works such that the women offer their bodies to the fishermen who then reward by giving them top priority in getting the fish from the boats sometimes for free and at times for money.
Many women have flocked the beach and as a result of influx,getting enough fish to supply to them both is minimal,this theory is what has fueled sex business in this industry. Coincidentally,HIV spread has also been pn steadfast rise due to careless irresponsible sexual behaviors between the fishermen and the fish mongers.
However,all this could possibly be a thing of the past,donors through lake Victoria environmental conservation board,have offered boats to women to fish for themselves in a move that is expected to empower and curb the sex menace popularly known as Jaboya in the region and eventually add to the success on the fight against AIDS.
It is however time that will determine wether it will be s3x as usual or the provided boats and measures will shift the game.
I urge you to go back to geography class and learn more about lake Victoria boundaries.Kenya occupies just a prtion of the lake.the biggest shares are shared between Tanzania and Uganda.for proof,just check at the map
