Once again the bad boy in the house NACADA boss has stroke again and this time he is going straight into your favourite night. In an interview,Mututho said he is scheduling a meeting with governor Kidero to temporarily shut down all the night clubs in the city.
He said NACADA is incapacitated to monitor more than all the 3,000 plus night clubs in Nairobi. By shutting down all the clubs Mututho says the move would reduce and regulate alcohol, drugs consumption in the city. Mututho alleges that Kenya is a drinking nation with 75% of the total alcohol consumption being consumed in Kenya.
Still staying on the alcohol regulation,Mututho says the popular reality music show Tusker Project Fame(TPF) is an illegality given the reason that it is sponsored by EABL,an alcoholic company.
He said alcohol producing companies should not be allowed to sponsor any sports or show in the country as this according to him is read as a motivation to drink more.
Talking of alcohol brands sponsoring sports,Guinness,Heineken amongst many are official sponsors of European Champions League. Locally EABL apart from sports and shows, they sponsor many projects and normally sponsoring events is corporate responsibility of giving back to the society.
If this is anything to go by then Nairobi residents should brace themselves to have the night clubs shut and many people rendered jobless, this is only few Weeks after imposing regulations on house parties. At the same time, the future of TPF is bleak.
Do you support Mututho in his fight against alcohol and drugs abuse.

ReplyDeleteTPF should not be banned because of millions of followers in East and Central Africa. The show has never motivated me to drink! I am sure this also applies to many of the lovers and followers of the programme.
