Budalangi Member of Parliament Mr. Ababu Namwamba Wednesday denied claims that he attacked the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Mr. Raila Odinga and the party leadership at an event in Kakamega last week.
Mr. Namwamba who met Mr. Odinga in his Nairobi office said he was misquoted by the media saying that what he said at a Church function in Navakholo constituency last Sunday is not what was reported.
Addressing the media after the meeting that was attended by several members of parliament from the party, Mr. Odinga said Mr. Namwamba was shocked at the reports that appeared in a section of the media attributed to him that he was not happy with the happenings in the party.
Mr. Odinga cautioned the media against fanning political temperatures in the ODM saying this was hurting the running of the affairs of the party. He urged the media to be responsible and stop writing malicious and fictitious stories about individuals and institutions such as ODM.
“It is unfair for a newspaper to publish a list of party officials emanating from nowhere and expect to be treated lightly” said Mr. Odinga in reference to today’s headline in the Star Newspaper. “I am the party leader of the ODM and I am not aware of any list that has been released to the media regarding party officials” he added.
Mr. Odinga said ODM was as united ever and that the issue of the botched national elections was being handled and that very soon the exercise will be held afresh. “We formed a Transitional Interim Executive Committee (TIEC) to run the affairs of the party until that time that fresh elections will be held” added the former Prime Minister.
However, no sooner had the press conference come to an end than Ababu went back to his previous suit. The legislator was overhead while walking in the Parliament building corridors applauding members of press for having reported him earlier bashing Raila saying they were factual and the truth.
This begs the question as to why the general as he is known is DOUBLE speaking. It's only a matter of time for the truth to be known. As to whether he can be trusted with the highest organ of the party, SG now that's all up to the party members
