Few  months back K24 repackaged itself and established a new image, getting on board new faces into their screens. The move could see a mass exodus of journalists from other major media houses in Kenya to join K24 who were offering better pay than the rest.As the mass match to K24 was taking course, many employees were laid off to pave way for the new faces that were meant to give it a new face and the vigour to measure up with other leading media premises.

They hired leading TV faces giving them six figures salaries, according to sources,Belinda Obura,Tom Mboya,Terryanne Chebet,Tony Timasie,Ann Ngugi amongst the rest of the leading faces poached by K24 are both earning sh.100,000+ monthly salaries. Now sources deep in the station reveals to NE that the company is going broke and running at a loss, its speculated the strategy of having new faces to boost its viewership base has backfired or is yet to be realised. A crisis management meeting which has been on for a whole week has resolved to yet lay off a whooping 76 employees from their base.Talking to NE,one of the affected employees says he got the firing notice via his phone,it's said the affected staff includes Newby journalists, old crew members deemed unreliable, editors[video],camera men and office work employees. Amongst those laid off includes former KTN's Swahili anchor Ann Ngugi,Tichi Nyasani,Zawadi Mudibo,Rashid Ronald, long serving Caleb Karuga amongst others. In the resolve, the retained few employees are expected to multi task in the production duties, meaning one could be the camera man, edit and be the presenter at the same time. The move as planned is expected to cut down the costs or better limit the costs. The destiny of the fired staff is yet to be made clear but what's clear is they have been laid off and K24 is short of "Ks" and can no longer sustain to efficiently pay the high salary demanding staff ranging from anchors to actors. This is the first face and we are informed the second wave is hitting soon.
